Luling Main Street is kicking off the Christmas season with musical entertainment, hot cocoa and Santa, with ‘Cocoa and Carols’ 2011.
The annual festive event is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 9, from 5-8 p.m. Several groups of carolers will be visiting downtown Luling businesses, singing holiday jingles while customers sample each business’s hot cocoa. The businesses will be competing for the highly coveted “Cocoa Cup.”
Participating businesses will prepare and serve their own special recipe of hot chocolate and offer free samples. Visitors will vote on which one tastes the best in the ‘Taster’s Choice’ competition. Ballots for that contest will be distributed to all businesses and can also be picked up at the Luling Visitor’s Center (at The Central Texas Oil Patch Museum).
Visitors will have these ballots stamped or signed off after sampling cocoa at each business. After their ballot cards are filled with stamps they will be eligible to submit their votes for the best tasting cocoa, and become eligible to win a gift basket. All ballots must be turned in at the Luling Visitor’s Center by 7:45 p.m. to enter the raffle. The drawing will take place at 8 p.m. and the cocoa contest winner will be announced immediately afterward.
In addition to bragging rights, the winner of the people’s choice will have the honor of displaying the Cocoa Cup in their establishment for an entire year.
Santa Claus will also be in town, visiting with children of all ages in downtown Luling. So come enjoy a wonderful night of cocoa, carols and Christmas cheer. For more information, contact Luling Main Street Manager Nikki Maxwell at (830) 875-3214 ext. 3, or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
