Greetings all! It has been a pleasure to bring the family back to my hometown after being gone all these years. People keep asking me if I like being back in the small town again, – but because I have lived here before, I keep telling them that I knew full well what I was getting into. But I guess I had forgotten what a 90 second commute to work really felt like. It’s a heck of a lot better than the daily 90 minute commute I saw in the big city, and has been a most pleasant shock to the system. My truck doesn’t know what to do with all of its free time now. Anyways, it’s good to be back and to now be part of a great organization that is hard at work making a difference here in Lulin… (g is silent).
We have a lot going on right now with the Main Street group, and I want to thank the Newsboy for giving Luling Main Street this opportunity to have a column to be able to share with you the many happenings going on in our district. We have an active group that is busy, busy, busy, trying to get some things done around here… And I thank them all for their hard work. You will hear from some of them in this column from time to time, helping share what we are all about. Because of our tireless volunteers Luling Main Street has been around for 10 years now, and they deserve all the credit we can give them for all the things they have done to make Luling a better place. Speaking of making Luling a better place… Luling Main Street, the Luling Chamber of Commerce and the Luling Economic Development Corporation will be hosting a luncheon/mixer and will be grilling up some free hotdogs on Thursday June 20th from 11AM-3PM at the Zedler Mill Pavilion. This will coincide with the monthly business luncheon series that we have been having the last couple of months on the 3rd Thursday of the month. We will be showing our first webinar at 12:00PM which is titled: “Reevaluating Your Marketplace; It’s Bigger Than You Think” for those who are interested. I’ve seen it and there is some awesome info and a couple “light bulb going off” moments. The Chamber of Commerce will be handing out goody bags and there will be a questionnaire available so we can gather data to let us know how to utilize resources to best help our business owners. Next week is “National Small Business Appreciation Week” and we want to show our appreciation on the 20th to all of our small business owners here in our town whose businesses define what the Luling experience really is. Luling is lucky to have some cool attractions for tourists for sure, but it is the businesses here in town that are the first line of contact, and whose cheerful and down-home attitudes are just as important to the customer experience as the product lines or the services that they offer. Hope to see you there! Till next time…
