As you stroll down historic downtown, do you ever wonder who is responsible for the Way finding signs, planters, Pocket Park, the mural on the side of Aptiva, and the newly installed information kiosks?
Main Street is constantly brainstorming and coming up with ideas to make our downtown more beautiful, resourceful, and eye catching. We take pride in what we do and we are so lucky to have the opportunity to work with owners of local businesses, the City of Luling, and residents. We’re kind of “behind the scenes” with the exception of Cocoa & Carols and the Rajun’ Cajun. While those events are fun, they are only 1 day. We are working on being more “open” with our mission and we need your help to achieve that.
Our board is made up of volunteers from the community. We have an excellent group of folks and we all have the common goal of wanting to preserve our downtown and surrounding Main Street district. We do what we do because we love our little town and we want to be a part of making it prosper. Our doors are always open for new board members and volunteers. If you would like to be a part of our group, please feel free to attend one of our meetings. We meet the second Monday of every month at the Chamber.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to meet our new Director, Derek Hall, please stop by and tell him hello. He is a breath of fresh air to the organization. He truly has a passion for Main Street and he has vision for the future. I am optimistic about the future of Main Street and our mission, and with the addition of Derek to the team, I know great things are on the horizon.
As Vice President of LMS, I can’t thank you, the citizens, enough for all of your support over the past 10 years. We have certainly had our ups and downs over the past few years, but we have always managed to bounce back and be better than ever. We are a success because of you and we are dedicated to continue to make Luling proud.
