4th Annual Rajun’ Cajun Throwdown Approaches

Eps-v2-06.08.2011From our very first meeting five years ago about putting something on that’s a little “mardi gras-esque” to now, I never imagined our brainstorm would’ve taken off the way it has.  And now here we are in the final planning stages of the 4th Annual Rajun’ Cajun Gumbo Throwdown.

Every year, the Rajun’ Cajun gets bigger and better and we couldn’t be more excited about it.  People are coming from farther distances every year and we had several different people from out of the state that specifically came to Luling to join in the fun! To be honest, we wouldn’t be able to pull off such an awesome event without the generous help and contributions of sponsors, volunteers, vendors, and the patrons.

Every year, I am amazed and in awe of the growing group of folks that show up to help support Main street and our mission.  You are all more appreciated than I could ever describe in words.  Your tireless efforts leading up to the event and even in the days after do not go unnoticed.  Thank you all!

The teams and cooks never cease to amaze me year after year. Rain or sine they cook all day to perfect their recipes while providing fun, food, and laughs with patrons passing by. Last year, we had the fiercest competition in the history of the RC. It definitely raised the bar! Will your team continue their reign, or will it be your team to take over the bragging rights of last year’s winners?

We plan to have some crazy new fun activities this year and hope to see you March 8th in beautiful and historic Downtown Luling!

You wrote this big nice article on the Rajin Cajin event–but no date is given–when is it?

I would love to know more but there are very little actual details about this event. Is there any food and drinks for sale? Or is this the type of cook-off that you get a small taste, or only if you know one of the teams? Is there any kind of menu of items that someone might be able to purchase there? A list of drinks maybe? thanks

    • There will be a beverage garden starting at 10 AM with beer (DosXX, Coors Lite, Miller Lite, Bud Lite, etc.), soda, and water available throughout the day and Crawfish by the Pound will be available starting at 11 AM. The cooking team will be competing for a “People’s Choice” award by offering samples to the public for $1 tastings. If Cajun isn’t your favorite choice, there will also be a vendor area with various other food options. Please let us know if you have any additional questions and we look forward to seeing you there!
