Images of America: Luling

Images of LulingJust got back from a trip to absolute paradise where the beaches are pristine, the reefs beautiful and the caves are deep. We are refreshed and ready to get back to it my friends. But getting my mind and fingers back in sync is taking some extra time looks like.   We will be short and sweet this week and will try to get em’ revved up shortly.   But in the meantime, I’d like to send out a call for help to each of you.   A few years back the Luling Main Street Board of Directors partnered up with local writer Chuck Parsons, and did a book project highlighting the history of Luling Texas, which was published and released in 2009.   It was titled “Images of America – Luling”. We have sold approx. 600 copies over the last few years and everyone I have spoken to who has one of these books has said it is a great read and very informational.   We are almost sold out and will need to place another order soon. But before we do, we will need to create an updated version that passes muster before its release. And this is where I could use everyone’s help…

This new updated version will have a few corrections to be made which we are already working on… things like photograph credits and picture identifications which will need to be corrected before the new updated version is released.  We have started the process of getting a few of these minor modifications done, but want to ask each of you who may have one of these books in your possession if you may have noticed any others we may have missed. We’ve got our eyes trained on it and still have some due diligence to do, but we are enlisting all of our faithful readers, casual readers, and even the non readers, if there are any, to be our backup and help us find any corrections that need to be made for the new version.   After we compile all changes, research them and submit them, we hope to have a new addition out by the end of the year… Just in time for Christmas time gifting if we’re lucky.

For those of you who don’t have a clue about what book I’m talking about… the book cover is illustrated here to show you what it looks like and what to look for. We still have a few copies left at the Luling Oil Museum gift shop if anyone needs a copy. Please contact us at the number below if you have any further information, or if you want to forward us some possible corrections you’ve noticed for the upcoming edition.   Thanks in advance for your help.

Everyone be good to each other and lets enjoy some Thumptime!  Let the controlled chaos begin…
